Good Shepherd - Week of July 27th

Sunday Worship

Join us this Sunday as we continue our series "Ordinary" where we'll explore the lives of everyday people in the Bible - flawed, faithful, hesitant, and hopeful - whom God used in extraordinary ways - at the 9am and 10:45am worship gatherings in person, or the livestream option directly from our website at (gspc.org).

Birthdays/Anniversaries

7/27 - Nancy Morehouse, 87

7/31 - Bob and Elaine Elliott, 70

Please Welcome the Hamlin Family!

Please welcome the Hamlin family - Allen, Lindsay, and Josie! They are missionaries living in the UK and ministering in many parts of Europe as they partner with Pioneers. Lindsay grew up at Good Shepherd and now daughter Josie is attending VBS week with the kids here. Allen will be preaching on Sunday, August 3rd, and Lindsay will be connecting with our youth. After the 10:45 worship gathering on the 3rd, there will be a light lunch served in the Fireside Room so we can ask questions and get to know them better. Please pray for them as they have a full schedule while here in the U.S.

Home Communion Training

What a special opportunity to visit those who are homebound, pray with them, and extend the table of the Lord's supper into a living room or nursing care environment.

Pastor Bryan would love to equip and encourage you into active service for this ministry. Our dear homebound members REALLY appreciate sharing in this time of the Lord's Supper each month. The reality is that we are not able to "get to" everyone each month.

Please be in prayer about this vital ministry and if you would be willing to be on the Home Communion Team. Training time is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th @ 6:30-8pm in the Fireside Room. Contact Pastor Bryan at bryan@gspc.org with questions and to reserve your place.

Angels Game

Join us on Sunday, August 24th for an Angels Game beginning at 1:07pm! Grab your tickets at gspc.org/youth today!

Quilters

Quilters meet the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 10am in the Round Room #4. Their next meeting is on July 28th.

Welcome to Deacons' Corner

Even in this era of text messages, emails, and instant messages, over 100 billion pieces of junk mail are delivered in the United States each year! There are still certain kinds of mail that are happily welcomed and eagerly opened: personal greeting cards! The experience of seeing one's name handwritten on an envelope is like finding money in a pants pocket-a truly delightful treat. The Good Shepherd Card Ministry reminds people that they matter. We send birthday cards to people ages 80+. Couples start receiving anniversary cards on their Golden Anniversary. One recipient thanked us this way: "It is so nice to know that I am not forgotten, even though I can only attend church online now." We also send Get Well, Sympathy, and Thinking of You cards, generally based on the prayer requests in the Sunday bulletin/weekly email. Last year 260 cards were sent to members of the Good Shepherd family. You can be part of sharing Christ's love by donating your unused cards. If you have suitable greeting cards, please bring them to the church office Monday-Thursday or drop them off at the Local Missions table on Sunday. Thank you so much! Questions? Contact Sherry Johnson at sherryj54@gmail.com. Galatians 6:10 - So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially those who are of the household of faith.

Senior Game Night

On Friday, August 1st we will be meeting again for fun and fellowship. For those who may not have attended before, join us at 6:30pm in the Fireside Room and make some new friends.

Gracefully Fit / Fit & Faithful

Gracefully Fit. We are excited to add a new class to our morning gym schedule led by Cassie Torres. Beginning Monday, August 4th, classes will meet twice a week (Monday & Wednesday) and are $3 per class from 8:30-9:30am. This is a full-body training class that combines dynamic strength-building exercises, and cardio. Bring your mat (must be able to get on the floor).
Fit & Faithful. We are continuing this class from 9:30-10:30am (Monday and Wednesday), $3 per class. This is a low-impact chair and standing exercise to improve balance, stability, strength, flexibility and heart health.
