Renew, Refresh, Reactivate Your Faith

If you are seeking a fresh way to experience and practice your faith. if you’re a long-time Christian seeking new vitality, or if you sometimes feel out of place in traditional church circles, then this group is for you.  Using the book, We Make the Road by Walking by Brian McLaren as a guide, we will find inspiration and vitality for our spiritual journey.  We will meet each Wednesday at 6:45 beginning September 10th following worship for a time of presentation and participation.  You may sign up at the table on the plaza or email Doug Scholten dougcccbp@gmail.com

New Bible Study - Philippians

Wednesday Night Together

Wednesday Night Together is back on September 10th with Seniors Faith at Four (45), Kids Choir from 5-6pm, dinner for everyone from 5:45-6:30pm, followed by worship, kids, youth, adult, and Life Groups. Our evening time together concludes by 8pm.

Moms Connect

Every first and third Wednesday of each month, beginning September 17th from 9-10:30am, moms with kids of all ages join together to connect with one another, grow deeper in our faith, and journey through the highs and lows of parenthood. Childcare is available. 

Faith at Four (45)

Faith at Four (45) resumes September 10th as Doug Scholten leads the class in the Choir Room. Plan to stay for dinner on the Plaza!
Peggy and Mark Malbon will join us on Wednesday, September 17th for Harmony and Hymns as we explore the history, and authors behind our faith's favorite hymns. 

Quilters

Quilters meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 10am in the Round Room #4. Their next meeting is on September 8th. 

Senior Game Night

Time again to meet for fun and fellowship on Friday, September 5th! Join us at 6:30pm in the Fireside Room. 

Precept Bible Study Class

The next Precept Bible Study class on the book of Jude begins September 10th led by Talbot Jaeger. Class is held each Wednesday from 6:35-8pm in Room 4. This study is only 5-weeks long and would be a good chance for you to experience what an inductive Bible study is like. Cost of the workbook is $20. GriefShare

Those who are mourning the death of a loved one are invited to join the next session of GriefShare, a faith-based support group for understanding and healing of the grief process. This series begins on Tuesday, September 16th, from 10-12 noon in the Patio Room, and continues for 13 weeks. Visit griefshare.org for more information.

Red Cross Blood Drive, Tuesday, September 2nd,
9am-7pm in Zirbel Hall

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and friends have provided timeless lessons about taking care of each other. To celebrate their example, everyone who donates blood on September 2nd will receive an exclusive American Red Cross PEANUTS mystery bag with one of four special t-shirt designs. Rumor is the T-shirt is going viral and has become quite a collector's item among young people! NOTE: time has been extended in part because of current blood shortages but also to accommodate donors after work or after school. CBS (Community Bible Study)

CBS for all women will begin this year on Friday, September 5th at 9:30am here at Good Shepherd. The study will be the Book of Psalms. Cost is $35. There is a preschool program plus infant care. https://losalamitos.cbsclass.org/

Flu Shots will be given on September 28th and October 12th between worship gatherings in Zirbel Hall. Senior shots and regular shots will be available. Home visits will be available. Contact Beth Piburn for more information. 

Long Beach Rescue Mission's 42nd Annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast

Long Beach Rescue Mission's 42nd Annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast will be held on September 19th. The keynote speaker will be Father Greg Boyle, the founder of Homeboy Industries. Go to lbrm.org for tickets. 

Food Finders' Fundraiser

Food Finders is hosting a "Rockin Blues BBQ" fundraiser on Friday, September 19th from 5-9pm. It will be held at the Betty Reckus Cultural Center at the Greek church in Long Beach. An L.A. based band - The 44's - will be performing, and there will be plenty of food and fun under the stars. You can purchase tickets at foodfinders.org.

Serve Day - Love Our Cities

Serve Day for Love Our Cities is scheduled for Saturday, October 11th. Volunteers are needed for various projects. Breakfast will be served at 7:30am at Parkcrest Church. Projects are expected to run from approximately 9am to noon. These projects include wrapping gifts, baking cookies for senior lunch, and cleaning the sanctuary at Christian Outreach in Action. There's also a Food Finders project involving packing food for Food for Kids in Los Alamitos.
