The open positions needed for Elder are HR, and Youth. Deacon positions needed are Care Calling/Visitation, and Courtesy Meals. Please give prayerful consideration for someone you may wish to nominate (it can be yourself). Be sure to ask a person you wish to nominate to be sure they are willing. Congregational Meeting
The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, November 16th at 10:15am in the Sanctuary to elect the nominees to serve as Elders and Deacons beginning in 2026.

During this time, we'll enjoy good food and friendship together, explore what it means to be a covenant partner, discuss Good Shepherd's core beliefs and priorities, and answer any questions you might have. Staff Appreciation Month
We will be gathering notes of Thanks and Appreciation for Staff through October. Just drop your note in the basket in the Narthex on any Sunday morning in October, or you are welcome to mail your note to Good Shepherd, and they will be distributed to the Staff. We appreciate all the gifts our Staff brings!
Faith at Four (45)
Join us Wednesday, October 8th at 4:45pm in the Choir Room as the Good Shepherd Stewardship Team presents "Leaving a Lasting Legacy for Future Generations." Stefanie Marsden, Relationship Manager of the Texas Presbyterian Foundation, will be our featured speaker. Plan to say for dinner, worship, and classes afterwards.
Leaving a Lasting Legacy
The Good Shepherd Stewardship Team will present two identical sessions on "Leaving a Lasting Legacy for Future Generations." These informative presentations will be held on Wednesday, October 8th during Faith at Four (45) in the Choir Room and again at the Prime Time Luncheon on Thursday, October 9th at 12 noon in Zirbel Hall. Women's Bunco Night
Fall into Bunco! All ladies are welcome to attend Friday, October 10th at 6pm in Zirbel Hall. Cost is $15 which includes a baked potato bar dinner with dessert. Sign up at the Women's Ministry table on the Plaza.
Literary Women
Good Shepherd invites you to our meeting on Saturday, October 11th at 9:30am in the Fireside Room. We will be discussing the book - My Friends - by Bachman. The book for November is a memoir - All the Beauty in the World - by Patrick Bringley. Come early for coffee!
Moms Connect
Every first and third Wednesday of each month from 9-10:30am, moms with kids of all ages join together to connect with one another, grow deeper in our faith, and journey through the highs and lows of parenthood. Join us on Wednesday, October 15th! Childcare is available.
Parents Night Out
We want to support you as parents by taking care of your kids for a few hours! Drop off at 5pm, pick up by 8pm on Friday, October 24th in Fireside Room and let us take care of the rest! Just $20/family! Dinner is supplied.
Handwork Happy Hour
Come join us in making projects in and for the community! Come to finish that WIP that has been sitting around forever, or to learn how to make some fun things from fluffy stuff! Join in creating beanies for cancer patients, octopi for preemies, or just something sweet and soft for someone special with the activity of the week! Come the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 4-5:30pm in the Round Rooms #4. Bring needles, hooks, yarn, floss (anything needed for the project you want to work on). Planned upcoming activity ideas: October 8th, crochet a pumpkin coaster set; October 22nd, knit/sew/crochet a Fall themed bunting banner; November 5th, knit an arctic hare; November 19th, crochet a chunky beanie; December 3rd, crochet a Christmas tree; December 17th, crochet a cross.
Quilters
Quilters meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 10am in the Round Room #4. Their next meeting is on Monday, October 13th.
Flu Shots - October 12th
Flu Shots will be given on October 12th between worship gatherings in Zirbel Hall. Senior shots and regular shots will be available. Home visits can be arranged. Contact Beth Piburn for more information.
Serve Day - Love Our Cities
Serve Day for Love Our Cities is scheduled for Saturday, October 11th. Volunteers are needed for various projects. Breakfast will be served at 7:30am at Parkcrest Church. Projects are expected to run from approximately 9am to noon. These projects include wrapping gifts, baking cookies for senior lunch, and cleaning the sanctuary at Christian Outreach in Action. There's also a Food Finders project involving packing food for Food for Kids in Los Alamitos. Youth are welcome. We will sign off on service hours for them if they are available to volunteer.
