Good Shepherd - Week of July 12th, 2026

This summer, we are continuing our sermon series on the parables of Jesus. These short stories are simple enough to remember, but deep enough to unsettle us, challenge us, and reshape the way we see God, ourselves, and the world around us. Together, we'll listen closely to the stories Jesus told and ask what it means to receive his kingdom with open ears, honest hearts, and lives ready to respond. Kids (PreK-5th Grade) are invited to Rainforest Falls VBS July 20th-24th, where kids will trek into field-tested rotations such as Bible, music, crafts, and science that reinforce relevant Bible Points and immerse kids in new adventures. Registration is open, sign up before we are full! $40/kid, gspc.org/kids.

Please join in our VBS Mission Project 2026 by taking a Rice bowl, filling it with coins, and returning it to church on Sunday July 19th, along with a new pair of socks! Thank you for supporting our global and local missions project this year.

Hello GSPC! It's time to collect donations for VBS 2026! Click the link here to see our Amazon Wishlist or come by the table and grab a card of supplies to return. We are also collecting as many EMPTY toilet paper and paper towel rolls that you have for VBS crafts! 

Friday July 31st, parents are invited to drop off their kids and head off campus. Please pack a towel and change of clothes, kids will get wet, eat dinner and watch a movie! Just $20 per family.

All women are invited to enjoy a night full of fun and fellowship - "Rolling in the Rainforest" - on Friday, July 10th at 6pm in Zirbel Hall. Tickets: $15.00. Sign up at the Women's Ministry table on the Plaza. Experienced players and beginners' welcome. 

Our next Cancer Support Group at Good Shepherd will be online on MONDAY July 13th at 7pm, via Zoom. All cancer patients and their caregivers, past and present, are encouraged to join our group for support and prayer. A Zoom link will be sent out before the meeting. Please contact Heidi Butcher at 714/319.5040 with questions, or if you are new to the group so that we may add you to our group email distribution list. 

Our Chancel Choir is currently on its summer respite. If you are thinking about joining us next season, rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 3rd at 7pm. Please email or speak to Dr. Binh Vu, binh@gspc.org, or speak to a choir member. We always welcome new choir members, whether singing with us for the entire season, or our special Christmas and Easter services. 

"Blankets of Love" has room for more people to come and help make blankets and quilts. You don't have to have prior experience just a heart for providing a warm blanket for local needy people. There is a lot of camaraderie and chatting when they work. It meets at the church on the second Monday of each month from 10am to noon. Their next meeting is on Monday, July 13th!

Do you have a loved one with mental illness? This group is for you! You will receive encouragement, discover that you are not alone in this challenge, and find new resources to help you cope. Meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 7-8:30pm in the Library. The next meeting is on July 23rd. Questions? Contact Debbie O'Dell at debodell51@gmail.com.
