Pastor's Note | Saturday, February 21st

We have been going through The Story and discovering the ways God has continued to act to bring about the accomplishing of the divine “Upper Story” of reconciliation of all things through Jesus Christ. One of the things that strikes me is the number of transitions that occur along the way in the history of the people of Israel.

Formed as a people group. Journeying from Canaan to Egypt where they are subsequently enslaved. Trekking in the wilderness near Sinai. Settling again in Canaan. Besieged by the Assyrians and Babylonians and taken into captivity. And as we delve into more deeply this week, the people are back again in the land of Judah.

Transitions are occurring at Good Shepherd as well. In our recent history it was the transition from the Presbyterian Church (USA) to ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. Then, by the voice of this congregation, another transition began when Rev. Curtis Bronzan was called to serve as the next pastor upon my retirement at the end of June.

But we must not allow another significant transition to get lost in the shuffle. Marie Crenshaw, our Director of Senior Ministries for over 15 years, is stepping out of that role. She is stepping into retirement which, for a person as capable and energetic as Marie, means investing her time and herself in family, other ministry opportunities, and other interests.

We will miss Marie as part of our staff team. She will be missed by the Senior Ministries Team. But the good news is that she will still be part of the Good Shepherd faith community.

Please plan on joining the celebration of Marie and her transition that will be held Sunday, March 1st at 10am (after the first worship service) in the gym. And join me in giving thanks to God for Marie and her ministry.

Pastor Jim
