Pastor's Note | Saturday, March 7th

Last week we bid a heart-felt “farewell” to Marie Crenshaw who is retiring from her role as our Director of Senior Ministries. Thank you for the numerous expressions of gratitude for Marie, her faithfulness, and her unending enthusiasm for serving Christ’s people.

This week we welcome Carol Jaeger into the role of Director of Senior Ministries. What a good gift she is to us! Not only is Carol’s heart focused on the things that give glory to God, but she too has enthusiasm to serve our seniors, to participate as a member of our staff team, and to contribute her creativity for the benefit of all Good Shepherd ministries. Welcome Carol!

On another note, the Presbytery of Southern California of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians, met on Saturday, February 28th in Ventura. Several of our Elders and our Pastors joined over 200 others from ECO churches as far north as Santa Maria and as far south as San Diego at this gathering. We engaged in worship, acted on church business (including approval of my retirement and our call to Curtis to serve as the next pastor), and spent time in Ministry Affinity Groups (MAGs).

MAGs are groups of Elders and Pastors from nearby churches who will covenant together to

  1. encourage one another;
  2. hold one another accountable our call to make disciples; and
  3. share ideas and “best practices” with one another.

The nearly two hours spent with others from Christ Pacific Church in Huntington Beach (formerly Christ Presbyterian Church) and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana were immensely encouraging and filled with enthusiasm about the ways we can walk together in future ministry. I hope you can sense my enthusiasm and gratitude for our being part of ECO.

Please continue to pray for ECO, for churches that are seeking to affiliate with this new organization, and for us al to be faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Jim
