Session Resolution

The Session of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church professes its faith by upholding the sacred doctrines of the Christian faith within the Reformed tradition according to the teachings of the Scriptures and the Confessions of the Presbyterian Church (USA). This profession of faith reaffirms some of the many fundamental truths of our Christian faith and heritage that are found within our Book of Confessions.

We acknowledge that all are in the wrong before God and helpless without God's forgiveness and loving kindness. No one is able either of oneself or any grace received in this life to perfectly keep the commandments of God, but daily breaks them in thought, word and deed.1

We trust, love, worship, adore and serve the one true, triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.2

We declare that Jesus Christ alone is Lord of lords and the only Savior for humanity. Salvation and a right relationship with God are found only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.3

We declare the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Holy Word of God and the final authority in the knowledge of God and in matters of faith and life.4

We declare that the loving kindness of God in Jesus Christ calls and empowers all people who profess faith in the Savior to a life of holy living, which includes faithfulness in the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, or chastity in singleness.5

We believe that God calls us to repent of any practice that scripture and the confessions call sin. Persons refusing to repent of any practice that scripture and the confessions call sin shall not be ordained and/or installed as deacons, elders or ministers of the Word and Sacrament.6

We prayerfully join with other churches that have expressed the importance of reaffirmation of these tenets. The Session instructs the Clerk of Session to communicate this resolution to the Presbytery of Los Ranchos and the General Assembly Council.
