He Is Risen... And He Is Here!

The women who went to the tomb to properly treat Jesus’ body for burial, went with heavy hearts, dashed hopes, and the dread that comes from the death of a loved one. They arrived at the tomb only to find it opened and the body gone. The heaven-sent messengers startled them with this announcement: “He is not here; he has risen!”

Once again, nearly 2,000 years later, we will gather on Resurrection Sunday to proclaim, “He is risen!” at 8:45 and 10:30am in the Sanctuary and 10:30am in Zirbel Hall.

Jesus, God the Son, set aside the glories of heaven and wrapped himself in humility by taking on human flesh and living among us. On his cross Jesus became the sacrifice that delivered us from the grasp of a sinful nature, from the consequences of separation from God, and from spiritual darkness. Then, being raised by the power of God Jesus leads us into the new life sustained by God’s Holy Spirit, into uninterruptible life, and into an everlasting role in the Kingdom of God.

So let’s joyfully declare: “He has risen...and he is here!”
