Introducing a New Member of our Staff Team

If you’ve been on campus in the past couple weeks, you may have noticed a new face in the office. On Monday, July 27th - amidst the 290 children on campus for VBS! - we welcomed Mary Gerard as a new member of our staff team.

Mary, who worships with her family at Long Beach Christian Reformed Church, has joined the staff as Administrative Assistant. She assumes the responsibilities of our previous Bookkeeper, covenant partner Diana Brett, and will also be responsible for internal and external communication (including our website, social media, brochures, etc.).

After months of time studies and engagement with our staff, I proposed this Administrative Assistant position to our Session in the spring, in an effort to support the work of Good Shepherd in the midst of our transition from three to two ordained pastors.

After an important time of discussing organizational charts and staff goals, our Session unanimously approved this position in our stated May meeting.

Mary has already taken responsibility for the daily bookkeeping, and, in the coming weeks, will assume responsibility for updating the website, social media accounts, online registration and databases, as well as creation of print media. I am so grateful for the gifts she brings to our staff, and for the ways she is already serving the mission of Good Shepherd so well.
