Pastor's Note | Saturday, September 13th

1

Have you saved the date?

I’m referring to Sunday, September 21st at 6:30pm, to be specific. The Session is inviting you to a Town Hall Congregational Information Meeting that is of real significance.

Through the summer months two very important activities have been in progress. These are

  1. the resolution to the “Stay of Enforcement” of the Presbytery of Los Ranchos' decision to dismiss Good Shepherd from the PC(USA) and to ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians, and
  2. a plan for moving forward with a transition in pastoral leadership for Good Shepherd as we enter into the future God has for us.

The Town Hall will be an opportunity to hear the status of these two momentous activities.

We will welcome Mr. Don Goehner, the Pastoral and Church Consultant who has worked with us - congregation members, staff, and Session - to set a course of action for the transition to the future leadership of Good Shepherd. Don will present his observations and recommendations - many of which the Session has already begun to implement in the transition process. The Session will then give you an update on where we are in this activity.

There will also be an update on the status of our Dismissal and the Stay of Enforcement. The amount of information that can be given will depend on where this stands at the date and time of our meeting. Hopefully, there will be a clear way forward to report.

So, please make this Town Hall Meeting a high priority. We are planning to start at 6:30pm and be done within an hour to hour and one-half. Please make every effort to attend and bring your questions. Childcare will be provided.

Finally, please continue to pray as we move through this time of transition and the uncertainty that comes with it. Pray for wisdom, courageous leaders, clear direction, and patience to compliment the diligence of those who are directly involved. And always remember, God is the Sovereign One; the risen Jesus is the Head of the Church, and the Holy Spirit is our present guide and source of strength.

Thank you,
Pastor Jim
