Pastor's Update

I have been impressed by reading some of author Henri Nouwen's reflections on drawing near to God. He cites that our English word "absurd" comes from the Latin for "with deafness," while our word "obedience" is from the Latin for "listening."

As we enter the season of Lent with the Ash Wednesday worship service on Wednesday, February 22nd, let me encourage you to use these special weeks in the Church calendar to move from the "absurd" to "obedience," from the noise and distractions that seem endless to listening and hearing God who speaks through scripture, through the Holy Spirit, and through other people. Look for the special Lent Devotionals available at the ash Wednesday service to assist in the process of listening.

Thank you for your partnership in ministry!
Pastor Jim

Ministry Spotlight

Stephen Ministry

In John 15:12, Jesus says, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” Loving and caring for one another is not just the job of the pastors - it’s something Jesus calls all Christians to do!

Stephen Ministry is a ministry in which people with special gifts for caring can put those gifts to use, bringing Jesus’ love and care to those who most need it. Are you or someone you know in need of extra love and care at this time? Perhaps a Stephen Minister can help. If you would like more information, please contact Marie Crenshaw at or Pastor Paul at
