Confirmation

It was about 10 years ago that I, as a student, walked from the Student Ministries room into the Sanctuary one Sunday morning to join the rest of the church family in celebration of our brothers and sisters joining the church and getting baptized.

It was truly a time to celebrate!

Starting Sunday, March 13th we again invite a whole new class of students who want to learn more about their faith and at the end of the 6 week class can choose to be confirmed as members - and baptized (if they have not been already). This spring, as in years past, we will be carefully dissecting the Apostles Creed, learning from this ancient, yet profoundly relevant statement of belief, to inform us about our tradition and our relationship with God. Check it out:

     I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
          the Maker of heaven and earth,
          and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

     Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
          born of the virgin Mary,
          suffered under Pontius Pilate,
          was crucified, dead, and buried;

     He descended into hell.

     The third day He arose again from the dead;

     He ascended into heaven,
          and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
          from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

     I believe in the Holy Ghost;
          the holy catholic church;
          the communion of saints;
          the forgiveness of sins;
          the resurrection of the body;
          and the life everlasting.

     Amen.

I can’t wait to begin this journey with our middle and high school students! All 6th-12th grade students are welcome to join in at 8:45am, beginning Sunday, March 13th.
