Church Officer Nominations

Good Shepherd is currently seeking nominations for elders and deacons to serve in a variety of positions. You can learn more about the open positions in the "Working Together" brochure in the pews or by clicking onto gdshp.ch/nomcom. You'll find a short form to complete if you'd like to be considered for one of those positions - or if you have someone in mind!

Food Drive at Good Shepherd!

On June 30th & July 1st, we are collecting these food items in the parking lot (look for open car trunks!). We are collecting: canned fruit, canned chicken, canned roast beef, beef stew, chili, baked beans, refried beans, tuna, instant mashed potatoes, peanut butter and canned pasta sauce. No expired items, please!

Summer Camp at Forest Home

Date Night

Parents! Join us Saturday, July 28th for a short topic on strengthening your marriage from 6-6:30pm in the Fireside Room... and then enjoy a date on your own with your spouse up until 8:30pm. Your kids will enjoy dinner and a movie! Feel free to put the little ones in their pajamas. Childcare is $15 per couple regardless of number of children. Register on our website today!

Beach Day at Bolsa Chica

Come on down August 26th at noon, bring your boogie boards and kites and enjoy the beach. End the day with a potluck dinner around a bonfire with smores. Meeting spot and more details will be provided soon.

Save the Date for the Fall Camp-Out

Tent campers and RVers, get ready for another great weekend in the outdoors at the East Shore RV Park in San Dimas the weekend of October 12th-14th. Stay tuned for sign-up information and details.

Perspectives

Perspectives is a unique course that covers how each of us can be obedient to God’s calling whether in our home or at the ends of the earth. For 15 weeks you will learn from some of the most highly-regarded mission leaders and mentors in the world. Be forewarned: God will change you, the way you see and think about your life, your walk, and this planet will never be the same. This class will be held Sundays 6-9pm, August 19th to December 9th, 2012 at Grace Community Church in Seal Beach. E-mail Renee at with questions or for more information.

VBS Science Needs

We're in need of some items to be donated, loaned or purchased: Needed for donation: 170 ping pong balls, 50 round balloons, 170 clear 8oz. plastic cups, 6 small beach balls, 200 sandwich size ziplock bags (not zipper kind, please), 2 gallons vinegar, 13.5 lbs. baking soda (available at Costco), 50 rubber bands, 10 hula hoops, 5 bags mini marshmallows, 5 lbs. (or more) clay and 5 packages of water balloons.

Need to be loaned: 6-8 fans that tilt upward (floor fans often do), 6-8 hair dryers.

Need purchased: Tube-A-Loons (available at groupoutlet.com, item 9780764490866, for $6.49).

Serve Precious Life

Precious Life Shelter Thrift and Gift Shop is in need of afternoon volunteers between 1-4pm or 1-3pm on Saturdays. All proceeds from shop sales provides for residential supportive services for homeless pregnant adult women and their children. Contact Amanda at 562/431.3190.

Serve Our Kids

Vacation Bible School 2012

We are collecting these items for VBS crafts: 1/2 gallon clean milk cartons, small twigs, new popsicle/craft sticks, medium smooth pebbles, tacky glue, cloth ribbon (any color), cardboard egg cartons, flat buttons and small shells. If you would like to donate these items, please drop them off in the church office with Sue Gilmore's name on them! Thank you!

Blood Drive

“Nation Save a Life Day” is Sunday, July 8th. We are having a blood drive on that Sunday from 8am to 2pm. Remember - one unit of blood can save 3 people, and it only takes 45 minutes of your time. When can you be so effective!?

Save Your Recycling

We continue to collect aluminum cans and plastic bottles for the Quinonez family. No glass please. Drop off by the storage bins on Sunday mornings.
